7 Stars School of Taijiquan and South Wudang Taoist Association trip to China 2007
Following from previous frequent trips to China, this excursion involved the collaboration between Bob and his colleague from Acuteach TCM, Dr Xi Hong.
The main objective of the trip was obviously to study with Master You Xuande while in China, but also to provide an introduction to the wealth of heritage and varying customs of this colossal country during our visit.
Promotion of the trip started in early September of 2006 and around October, 22 people had already booked. This included students from Northern Schools of Taijiquan based in Stoke, Cheshire whose Principal is Sifu Chris Thomas, Jamie Cameron from Greenock Lau Gar School, Francois Jacquot from Paris Taiji, Steve Mason from the Silk Road School of Taijiquan Inverness, and our contingent of members from the 7 Stars School of Taijiquan.
All participants had the opportunity to meet each other at the pre – trip presentation and dinner held at See Woo Restaurant in Glasgow on the 10th March 2007. This was well attended and all queries and concerns were addressed in preparation for the trip.
As the days approached, the excitement and anticipation arose in many of our group until we eventually left the UK on the 14th May for Hong Kong. Our time in this country passed very quickly as it only served as a small appetizer for those like myself who have never been before and were interested to experience this fascinating culture.
