PENGLAI:

Penglai City is located at the northern most tip of the Shandong peninsula. Having the reputation of “Fairyland”, Penglai is one of the three supernatural mountains inhabited by immortals! The famous legend of the “Eight Immortals crossing the sea” finds its origins here. It is said that the Eight Immortals got drunk at Penglai Pavilion, one of the four most famous pavilions in China situated on the hill of Danyashan, close to the sea in the north of Penglai City. Penglai Water City is one of the oldest military harbours in ancient China and where there are facilities such as the dry docks, piers, and emplacements, all situated with a backdrop of hills overlooking the sea. This whole area was administered in the 12th Century by General Ji Gu Guan who secured China from Japanese pirates to the extent they never returned. General Guan also has the reputation of publishing a book on fighting strategies that some believe provided the rudiments of Taijiquan.

Morning and afternoon training consisted of learning the “Wudang Cream Form” that Bob had learned previously with Master You. Bob mentioned during the training how surprised he was at the attention to details, the demonstration of martial application, and the approach to teaching that Master You provided in a very professional, at times humorous way.
